How to check hip in NHL 23
The hip check is a popular move for defensive players in NHL 23, and a well-timed hip check is devastating to the puck carrier.
To perform a hip check with the Skill Stick in NHL 23, you must:
- Run towards the opponent (hold R3);
- When you get close, press L1 or LB before impact to hip slam past them.
NHL 23 confrontation controls
On the NHL 94 controls, all you have to do is press the X or A button as the puck falls to compete for victory in a head-to-head circle. It's a bit trickier with hybrid and skill stick controls, as you have to use both analog sticks to establish your grip and then direct your attack in a duel.
The most basic approach to winning a head-to-head game in NHL 23 is:
- Adjust your grip (hold R left or right);
- When the puck drops, press R up to raise a baton, then quickly pull R back for a straight win.
- Use L to control where the puck goes as you pull back R to win the head-to-head.
Regarding center face-off grip selection, the face-off controls below assume a left-center shot (when looking over your shoulder, the tip of the bat is on the left side). With a center-right kick, the grip controls are in the opposite direction.
